Luke's Baptism

Luke chose to be baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was baptized on September 29th, 2018.  We were happy with his choice and felt lots of love and support from friends, family and ward members. When talking to Luke about his baptism and going through what would happen, he mentioned it made him really nervous to have all the kids come up and kneel by the font when he was baptized. I tried to encourage him by coming up with a game plan to only look at his dad and once he was in the font to close his eyes. When it was his turn to be baptized, they never invited the kids to come up. I thought Bryan must have asked the Bishop or his counselor to forego this, but it turned out that they forgot to ask the young kids to come up. To my nervous 8-year-old boy, it was a tender mercy and a special moment we talked about later. It was a great day.

Luke's kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade teachers all came to support him. He is one lucky kid and I am extremely grateful for these wonderful teachers!

Temple for Mikelle

I made a super quick trip to Brigham City to support my niece, Mikelle, as she went through the temple for her first time. It was neat being with so much of my family in the temple. I was only missing one sibling who I guess had a decent excuse of living in Kentucky. These quick, but meaningful, trips to Utah made me so grateful for families. It also made me happy for Mikelle's decision to serve a Full-Time mission. She was assigned to serve in the Arizona Gilbert Mission and has already been out over a month now. I look forward to reading her and Chandler's weekly emails. It's also been an easy FHE activity and spurs other questions from our kids--some of those questions are pretty comical.

Oh, and I managed to bring back half a suitcase of peaches with help from Dan's peach picking and packing skills. I guess peaches look just like bombs when going through the airport scanner...who knew?!?

Impromptu Date with Emma

Emma and I enjoyed a last minute, impromptu date together. PetSmart and Pedicures for the win.

Luke's 8th Birthday Celebrations

Luke is into anything Armed Forces and history. He is his father's child. It is pretty comical when it is Library Day at school. Luke will consult with Bryan about which book he should check out that week. He knows that I'm clueless when it comes to history (and a lot more, ha)! Luke chose Spider Monkey to visit and he invited Charlie to join us. We ate pizza for dinner, made the drive to Spider Monkey (long enough to let the food settle) and then pretty much had the place to ourselves.

 

Luke's First Time Hunting

As part of Luke's birthday celebrations, he was able to go hunting with Bryan. I don't know if Luke or Bryan was more excited about this. When it came to the actual hunting part of it they didn't have much luck, but it looked like a gorgeous area and time well spent.
