A Great Saturday

Well, the countdown is on. I guess it has been for the last 9 months, but it is feeling oh-so-close now! My induction is scheduled 2 weeks from Monday. Hooray! We are getting excited to meet baby Emma! We realize with her new arrival that we will be tied down 'a little more' so we decided to spend this morning up by a river that is about 45 minutes from our house. It was the perfect day to spend the morning together.

Luke loved the water, rocks, splashing and simply being a boy.

Bryan was definitely the cool parent on this trip and took Luke exploring and played with him wherever he wanted to go...well, almost wherever.

We ended our morning excursion with some ice cream from the local country folk. It was SOOOO tasty, YUM! 

Thank goodness for washable car seats and toddlers!

Oh, HAIL!!!

We had quite the impressive storm roll through Castle Rock. It started off with black skies, then a massive downpour of rain, followed by tornado warnings, but it saved the humongous hail for the grand finale. It was so intense!

The only flowers that escaped the wrath of the storm, they were tucked under the porch.

Sigh of sadness...hopefully, the perennials will make a come back, but I think the veggies are goners. It really was an awesome storm, but not so awesome in the aftermath. 

Fairplay

For Memorial Weekend we went to Fairplay, Colorado and stayed in a cabin with our good friends, the Cramers. We avoided the infamous I-70 traffic on the holiday weekend and made our way to Fairplay, which is about 1.5-2 hours from our home. We had a great time relaxing, playing games, eating, fishing, hiking and visiting.

It was ridiculously windy the majority of the time that we were there. We took advantage of the one calm night and made smores, Luke and Charlie were in heaven.

We told them to sit still...or else.    

AND, camera angles can be deceiving.

When the weather wouldn't cooperate, we took matters into our own hands.

It is an understatement to say that Luke and Charlie were ecstatic being able to play together from sun up 'til sun down. Such adventurous, mischievous  buddies.

Luke played so hard that he cashed out when he was strapped in the carseat and actually allowed himself to sit still for two minutes.

Testing our luck at a local fishing pond. All of us managed to catch several fish.  The boys played very well together and managed to stay on dry land---that was the real test of luck.

Elizabeth caught her first fish (EVER!) on this trip.

Did I mention it was WINDY??? :) 

Poor Luke, but wait, it gets better.  Elizabeth took Luke to her own beauty station and....

WA-LAH! We now have some idea of what Emma might look like! 

Confession: I took Luke to get his hair cut yesterday. I was already worried about how long his hair was getting, but when I saw how much he liked getting his hair styled accompanied by all of the attention, I knew it was time for a little chop-chop. Once Emma arrives, I don't want people to think that I have 2 daughters. :)

We had a blast! It was a great get away weekend!

He's a Little Country...

For Christmas, I gave Bryan a fishing trip to Flaming Gorge, complete with a 1/2 day guided fishing trip on the lake with Captain Kyle. He is cashing in on that gift this weekend with my brother, Tom.

This beauty came in at 40 inches and 30 pounds.

I think I 'done reeeal good' with my gift this year. That is one proud man.
