Summer in YWs

I debated whether or not to post this on the family blog, but seeing how this calling has blessed (and challenged) our family, at times :), I thought it would be appropriate to post. I just passed my two year mark as serving as YW's president. This calling has stretched me beyond words and helped me experience a "new heart" when it comes to working with the youth at church. Yes, sometimes I think the girls and their drama are ridiculous. However, the great majority of the time I feel blessed to be able to serve these girls and watch them build their testimonies and build up those around them. It is the hardest calling I've had and yet, one of the most enjoyable. How does that work?

Summertime is a blast to be with the youth. There is so much fun and bonding that happens in the Summer. I put together outdoor adventure in June with help from two other leaders and then attended YW's camp later that month. They were both a ton of fun with spiritual components (more so with YW's camp). I love the ladies I serve with and feel so uplifted and supported by them and their examples--we also have lotsa fun, too.

Never mind the large, burly man that somehow managed to be in one of our boats. :) He also had a younger son with him that you can't see in the pic.

Emma's First Piano Recital

Emma started piano lessons in January. I'm proud of Emma and her efforts to develop her piano playing skills!

4-mile Recreation Area Camping

Our friends, the Pringles, invited us along on a camping trip up 4-mile canyon. They were so fun to camp with together. The kids got along great and their older kids were so sweet to Myles and Emma. I haven't know this family very long, but I have felt a connection to them and love being around them. They introduced Luke to dirt bikes. It was love at first sight for Luke and he took to it like a natural. I didn't want to be the star of next video on AFV by attempting to ride a dirt bike, so I opted to be an observer rather than a participant this time around.

When the hunter becomes the hunted.

Anyone out there? Time to come out and play?

"Little bit" of sawdust comin' your way! :)

OH, sweet filthiness. Always a good sign of a great time while camping.
