Happy Birthday to Myles!

Myles turned 4 and it was BIG day for him! Some of Myles favorite things at 4-years-old: Bey Blades in any form, Mario Kart, sweets, pajamas, legos and whatever his brother and sister are currently playing with. Some of Myles not so favorite things: washing his hair, needing to change into school/play/church clothes (anything but pajamas), being told he is little or anything else that might be contradictory to his current thought process.

Last night as a 3-year-old.

He loved the extra attention at preschool. I dropped off donuts per Myles request. The teachers saved them for the end. It's like they didn't want 14 kids going crazy on a sugar high.

I guess we need to work on our singing skills as a family.

Happiest of Birthdays to our Myles! We sure love you, even when you're bossing all of us around. :)

Main Event for Myles Bday Celebrations

Myles chose a family party at Main Event for his 4th birthday celebrations. It was a fun night with hardly anyone else there! We did the arcade, bowled, ate pizza, scaled the ropes course and had one melt down. All and all, great time! :)

BYU Gymnastics

Emma decided to take gymnastic lessons this year instead of dance. She is doing very well and looks forward to her lessons each week. We attended a BYU gymnastics meet at the Air Force with a few friends. She loved it and I was pleasantly surprised how well it held her attention. I visited with a friend following the meet who used to live here, but is now one of the coaches for BYU gymnastics and tried to secure a spot for Emma on the team. :)

The girls were feeling like VIPs when they mingled with the gymnasts following the meet.

"Crowns." The gymnasts suggested this and we went with it.

Emma Girl & Glasses

I received a notice that Emma didn't pass her vision screen at the school. We followed up with a pediatric eye physician where she was diagnosed with amblyopia (lazy eye). The plan is for her to wear glasses as much as she can and hopefully we won't need to patch or do surgery on that eye. At this point, we had one follow up since she received her glasses and it was looking better. We will follow up again in the Fall. Our fingers are crossed that we keep seeing improvement (no pun intended). Emma is really good about wearing her glasses. I think she's just the cutest thing with her glasses.

Emma was not a fan of her eyes being dilated.

Infant Loss Program

I continue to serve in YWs and truly enjoy getting to know these girls and loving them. We did a service project for the Infant Loss Program and it turned out to be a wonderful night. We made blankets for babies to be wrapped in that are delivered too early and do not survive. Some of the blankets these girls sewed were only 8" x 8". We ended up with over 25 blankets ( some YW took extra fabric home and made more), 16 baby sock hats and dozens of hair bows. This activity definitely required a lot of behind the scenes effort, but it really did feel worth it.

Grandma and Grandpa Nielson

We enjoyed a few days with Grandma and Grandpa Nielson visiting. We toured the Air Force campus, sewed pillowcases, knitted Emma a hat, played games and of course, went out for hamburgers a night. The kids school was canceled one day due to a snow storm. They loved having that extra day with their grandparents.

This is exactly one yard. I thought it was very fitting that this measurement was 100% accurate for Carrie as she such a great seamstress so it only made sense!
