Mexico: Day 6

e ventured to another beach this day, Sayulita. It turned out to be a national holiday. The way to the beach, as well as the actual beach was CROWDED! We were trying to go to a lesser known beach, but even with Bryan speaking to the taxi driver we ended up at the popular one. I loved this little town and the shoreline. I could easily picture staying another day here. The boys loved searching for hermit crabs. The girls had their hair braided and loved the results. I did learn from this that the next time we visit Mexico, I will have this done at the beginning of the trip---hair is done everyday! Bryan was a good sport and took the kids in the ocean to "catch some waves." I think Bryan and I each took a turn with misjudging the next set of waves and watched our kids get pummeled in a few waves. Just making them stronger and weakening their trust in us!

Kelly had the kids doing fun races while we waited for our taxi.

The Fun Bus!

I packed the carseat to keep Myles contained during our drive. I didn't think through the fact that we would have a different taxi going home. We had to pack it with us the whole day. Oopsies.

Dinner is served. Hermit crabs anyone?

Mexico: Day 5

We walked along the beach in the morning and found some ginormous crabs hanging out in the rocks. I was too in awe/terrified and didn't take any pics. We made our way back to the condo and loaded up in some taxis to find an LDS church.

This girl and the beach! I loved how more and more freckles appeared on her face.

Our success in finding the church was largely due to the fact that Bryan and Devin both speak Spanish. On our way to church, our taxi driver became very annoyed with two young men in suits walking down the middle of the road. As our driver laid on the horn, the two young men turned and we could see their distinct black name tags. We didn't dare say, "Follow them." :) We made it to the church, enjoyed meeting the members and the stake president that was maybe 30-years-old. When they started to pass the sacrament, Luke said, "Wait a minute! We do the same thing at our church!" It made me smile and provided a great teaching opportunity to explain why it is the same no matter where in the world we attend church.

:)

We enjoyed a lazy Sunday afternoon and then headed into downtown Puerto Vallarta to explore the Malacon and grab a bite to eat.

Myles was partied out this night, but we still made it work...pass the Diet Coke. One for me and one for Myles.

They had a street parade and performers we could watch from the restaurant. There is a performer swinging on the rope. The kids loved watching this.

The kids each picked out a souvenir. Emma found a fan and Luke surprised all of us when he picked out a silver, Puerto Vallarta souvenir spoon.

We stopped off for ice cream in attempts to settle the beast.

He had other plans...watch out!

I guess Myles wanted two ice creams. Luke is missing from the pic because he was experiencing some GI distress. What's a true vacation in Mexico without some of that mixed in???

We made some funny and (some scary) memories this night. All and all, another good night, but I do think church and our laid-back afternoon was the highlight of this day.

Mexico: Day 4

We decided to change it up this day and checked out a nearby water park. We opened and closed the park. No lines and relaxed rules made it a memorable, fun day. We definitely got our money's worth on the blue slide. However, we did make sure to test out as many slides as we could. There were only 4 or 5 more so it wasn't too hard to do.
One of the events that really made us laugh was when they let a sea lion (?) wander into the crowd. Myles even received kisses from the stinky animal. I wish I had a video or picture of it because Myles was full on belly laughing and I was too cheap to pay for the "professional" picture. Good thing it was such a unique experience that I'm confident I won't ever forget it.

Welcoming decor.

Myles was so good about napping on the go. He cashed in my arms and transferred to the stroller for a good nap.

Packin' it up!

Part of the "fun package" was anytime we took a taxi ride we never knew what adventure we were in for!
Creative seat covers: Jerseys.

The taxi rides were thrilling at times. Myles liked to hold onto Emma's hand. She is a kind, big sister to him.

Our taxi driver spotted this guy on our way back to the condo.

Love how more and more freckles appeared on my favorite 4-year-old's cute face.

The boys were constantly on the move. Luke said the "drop slide" was his favorite.

We never tired of watching the sunsets from our balcony.
