6 months

Happy 6 months to Myles…a month ago! This kid visited the doctor more times in his six months of life than our entire family combined for the last year. He's still in a holding pattern for getting tubes in his ears. That's good news because it means his ears are actually not infected and haven't been for 2 weeks!

A few things about Myles at this age:

  • Is the SMILIEST baby. It is fun to watch him put a smile on so many other faces.
  • Gives me the best kisses and squeezes
  • Loves to watch Luke and Emma
  • Has two bottom teeth, with a third bottom one cutting through
  • Still likes to be swaddled for sleep
  • Loves his binki
  • Wakes up usually once in early AM to nurse, then back to sleep
  • Sits up independently
  • Starting to scoot
  • Likes going on walks with his dad in the morning
  • Still getting lots of use out of our "Johnny Jump-Up"

His Stats:
Height…..27.75 inches…..7th4 %tile
Weight..…18 lbs 9 oz...….57th %tile
Head……..45.9cm…...….94th %tile

So Long Summer...

We went to the neighborhood pool for one final swim of the summer. That made summer feel like it is truly coming to an end. It was a chilly afternoon, but that didn't deter Luke. He's become quite the fish this summer. Emma played in the water for a little while, then decided to join Myles and me for some pool-side snacks. Everyone was content. We were the only ones there for over an hour. We even closed down the pool. As we were walking to the car, a huge downpour started. I was glad we left when we did! Until next summer!

Crazy that within a few minutes we ended up with the place to ourselves with this gorgeous swim weather about to roll in.

Myles was so good to chill in his carseat by the edge of the pool. He liked to kick his leg up on the carseat and relax a little more. I can't get enough of this baby and his smiles!

The kids enjoyed otter pops "on the house" on our way out. I'm sure the lifeguards were thinking, "Finally! We thought they'd never leave!"

Luke requested I take a video to show Grandma and Grandpa Japan  (for the next 13 months, then the title of Grandma and Grandpa Utah will resume) how he likes to go down the slide these days.

Birthday Breakfast

We celebrated Elizabeth's 30th birthday by going to a delicious French Cafe. I think I need to go back and try more of their pastries! Elizabeth is such a good friend. She is always up for a get-together or party and knows how to make anyone feel welcome and included. Beyond grateful for her friendship.

Grandma and Grandpa Idaho

I'm not sure why I previously put such an emphasis on where the kids' grandparents live. It seems that each of their home states have now become their last name and identity.
Me: Hey kids! Grandma and Grandpa Nielson are coming to see you!
Kids: Who's that?
Me: The ones who have four-wheelers, made your quilts on your beds, live by Gracie and Molly, we go swimming a lot while visiting them, etc…
Kids: Oh, you mean Grandma and Grandpa Idaho?!?
Me: Yep, Grandma and Grandpa Nielson.
Kids: Who's that?
Me: Sigh...Grandma and Grandpa Idaho.

We had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Idaho. Thanks for visiting!!!

Sleeping arrangements were a little snug. These two both wanted to share Myles' crib. Seemed like a great idea for about .5 seconds.

We met up with Mike and Melissa's family on Saturday at Deckers. We love this little spot. It was the perfect evening complete with hot dogs and s'mores.

Mike and Melissa hosted Sunday dinner at their home. It was such a nice visit with everyone. We love being with family.

You and Me

Two times a week, for 3 hours each day, it's just me and this guy! He is seriously the smiliest baby. I'm also smiling more because he is sleeping so much better at night (fingers crossed it continues)!

Preschool

Emma started her first day of preschool! She was nervous, but happy to see her friend, Kennedy. We are doing a co-op preschool this year. It will be a good group and a fun year!

Pre-K

Luke started his last year of preschool! He was beyond ready and excited to go. When I asked him if he was nervous about anything he replied, "Not one bit!" He meant it, too. He is in the same preschool as some of his friends. It's a great group. We definitely lucked out!
