We joined Bryan for a work conference he attended in Los Angeles. We had delightful weather, beautiful beach days, the hotel pool to ourselves, quite a bit of In-N-Out and a great break from Colorado's cold weather!
Our room had a huge window where we could watch the airplanes taking off and coming in for landings.
Luke participated in Battle of the Books in 3rd grade. I liked that he read books he normally wouldn't gravitate towards and that he was committed and completed all of the books. I was surprised by how tense it was when Luke's school would compete against other schools. The judges were no joke and honored the rules with an iron fist. :) I thought Myles and I might get kicked out a time or two, but we managed to keep quiet.
I was still caught off guard when Emma received her Baptism Preview invitation (I know she's turning 8 this year, but I'm pretty sure her baby blessing wasn't that long ago), Our ward did a nice job with helping Emma understand more and preparing for her baptism.
We attended the Rockies Fan Appreciation Day. We were able to go in earlier than the general public. It was pretty fun touring the locker rooms, batting cages, dugouts. They also had a family feud style game with several of the Rockies players as participants and it was hilarious. It was one of the highlights. Too bad I'm blogging this so much later because I cannot remember which players we met and received their autographs. We had an extra so Luke invited his good buddy, Hudson.
We love coach Joyce. She has 4 boys and Tyler, who is Luke's age, is her youngest. She's coached countless teams for her boys. I love her passion and kindness--I think that's a combination that is lacking in our world, even outside of sports. Luke did a good job being coachable and being a team player. He has a great group of friends.
We welcomed the New Year and continued days off of school by playing lotsa games, visiting a trampoline park, ice skating in our home town, sleeping over in the basement, watching movies and playing in the snow.
Last minute, we invited the Hansen and Anderson family over for a little New Year Eve's party. It was pretty chill and definitely the latest Luke and Emma have stayed up! Myles fell asleep on the couch around 10:00, but Luke and Emma partied until after midnight. Had I known then what I know now about 2020, there would not have been any confetti or kissing to welcome 2020. Haha! Just kidding, although 2020 has been a year like no other, it's brought much good with it, but that's for another blog post. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
