Sand Dunes

We visited the Great Sand Dunes the beginning of June with a few other families. The Sand Dunes were hoppin' as it was a popular time to visit with the Medano Creek flowing higher due to the increased snowpack from Winter.

The first day we hiked Zapata Falls, picnic'd with "the locals" (aka deer) and hiked the Sand Dunes at dusk. This night was one of the highlights for me. The evening was calm and beautiful. The Sand Dunes were gorgeous, the lighting was perfect and the kids were all happy. It really felt like the perfect evening.

Myles' face is the best. :)

Coming to join our picnic.

The second day, we picked up our Sand Sleds from a local sports store in Alamosa. These were a lot of fun to use, but we wished we would have sledded earlier in the day because the sand was hot-cha-cha by noon. I quickly learned to keep my mouth closed as we flew down the sand dunes. A mouthful of hot sand?!? YUCK! In the afternoon, a storm came up quickly and we were making a mad dash for the cars! I'm sure it was pretty comical for others to watch us try to get everything packed up and out of there with all of our extra "helping hands." We had a pizza party at the hotel's pool that night with friends. It was another successful trip to the dunes.

Myles working on catching his fish. Poor, freezing kid was determined, but unsuccessful.

So Long, Farewell!

We said," Goodbye or see you later" to the Cramers as they moved to Amsterdam the end of May. We were so sad to see them go, but thrilled for them that they are able to live out this dream of theirs. See you in a few years!!

Gymnastics "Spring Fling"

Emma really enjoyed taking gymnastics this last year. She learned a lot and worked hard at home to improve her flexibility and strength. She has a dad who loves and encourages her in all areas of life. I love watching his excitement while helping our kids develop their talents and build their confidence.  He kept an eye out on Craigslist for a gymnastics mat and then built her a beam that she can practice on. They've been put to a lot of good use already.

Myles' Soccer Pics

Myles loved soccer this season. He had lots of fun and tantrums were rare. We were all pleasantly surprised. :)

Last Day of School

Another school year is in the books! It was a growing and great year for each of the kids. I'm proud of who they are striving to become.

Happy Mother's Day

It was a fun Mother's Day and the days that led up to it. The kids' schools had a "Mornings with Mom" breakfast and Myles' preschool included a performance. It was pretty cute, but I could tell that Myles wasn't loving it. So grateful to be these kids' mom, even when we're about to strangle each other. :) I feel like I won the lottery when it came to my own mother. Anyone that truly knows her, loves her. She has always been my biggest supporter and confidant in life. She is simply the best.

Our attempts for a decent picture. :)

Why yes, that is 18 full-sized Caramellos. Hello Heaven.

Emma's 1st Grade Music Performance

Myles and I attended Emma's music performance towards the end of the year. It was fun to watch our cute Emma sing and do the actions to each song.
