We met up with Bryan's parents and brother's family that night at the rodeo. Luke tried mutton bustin' again. He was very excited and pumped himself up with the thought of winning a trophy. Needless to say he was quite distraught when he wasn't able to stay on the sheep more than a few seconds. It happened so fast I didn't manage one picture! After a little time, and not the best pep talk from me, he recovered and cheered on the other cowboys. Myles and I bailed a little before 10:00 to head to bed. We missed the excitement when the fireworks at the end caught the mountain on fire! Luckily, the firefighters were right there and put it out quickly.
The next day we went to church at the small branch in Granby. We ran into 3 other families that we knew! Talk about a small, Mormon world. After church, we headed into Rocky Mountain National Park. We went on a short walk/hike to a spot by the river where we could set up chairs and try our luck at fishing. Bryan was the only one that managed to catch a fish. It was a pleasant, calm afternoon even with a brief downpour--we retreated in the trees for cover.

The rest of our time in Granby we spent at the lake and failed to catch one fish! It was nice to be with family and always a great time spent in the outdoors. We made a quick trip to Grand Lake and walked around on the boardwalk. We also popped into an ice cream store and enjoyed our treat as we explored. We love Granby and caught ourselves dreaming about a cabin there someday...a very distant day.

On the 4th of July, we drove back to Castle Rock and hosted a BBQ with Scott and his family that night. The ladies even managed to squeeze in a shopping trip to the outlet malls before dinner. It was a fun holiday that I look forward to each year.
