GERMANY/AUSTRIA DAY1&2

Elizabeth found a killer deal on roundtrip tickets to Europe. We discussed with husbands, made quick decisions with destinations, then Elizabeth worked her incredible skills of research and planning for months to make this trip one for the books! Kelly and I joked that it felt like we were following "Mama Elizabeth" around Europe because she was always the one to navigate us around public transportation, buildings and make sure we didn't leave anything behind!

We flew out Sunday afternoon and arrived in Munich around noon on Monday. We hit the ground running and didn't waste a minute. Elizabeth rented a car and drove on the Autobahn to Dachau Concentration Camp. This was an incredibly sobering and humbling place to visit. Dachau was the only Nazi concentration camp to open and run for the entire 12 years of Nazi rule.

The entrance gate read, "Works Brings Freedom."
I wondered if the innocent people brought here had any idea how horrible things were once they passed through this gate that contained an incredibly sad lie.

After our visit to Dachau, we drove into Munich and stayed at the Hotel Europaicher Hof. It was across the street from the train station; it was the perfect location! Props to Elizabeth. We grabbed food in the train station that night and picked up pastries for dessert at the hotel.
